Just A Reminder: A Woman Of Colour Has Never Won The Gold Logie
The TV WEEK Logies is a dazzling celebration of the Australian television industry, yet it underscores the persistent lack of diversity on Aussie screens, particularly in the prestigious Gold Logie category. This year saw an impressive group of nominees, mostly women, including Ally Langdon, Julia Morris, Lynne McGranger, Sonia Kruger, Hamish Blake, Poh Ling Yeow, and Lisa Millar. Lynne McGranger, known for her 33-year portrayal of Irene Roberts on "Home And Away," won the Gold Logie. Despite the win, the absence of women of color in this category remains a concern, highlighting a broader issue of representation in Australian media. While individuals of color have won other Logie awards, the Gold Logie’s significance is heightened by its public voting process, revealing a collective bias. Although there is a gradual increase in representation, it remains insufficient. Representation is vital for empowerment and change, as articulated by nominee Poh Ling Yeow, who emphasized the importance of seeing diverse faces on screen. The industry and the public are encouraged to support and recognize the talents of POC women, ensuring their rightful place in the spotlight.

Tensions reportedly arose when Chandler expressed discomfort participating in a group Q&A segment with co-star Timothy Olyphant and showrunner Noah Hawley. Despite efforts to accommodate her concerns, a resolution was not reached, leading to her exclusion from the cover. Attempts to reschedule a photo shoot failed as Chandler cited illness. Showrunner Hawley expressed disappointment, noting the irony of a female-centric show not featuring its lead actress on the cover. Chandler, new to press activities, stated she is a private person but eager to discuss the show. The situation sparked mixed reactions online, with some supporting her need for boundaries and others questioning the last-minute withdrawal. Despite the cover controversy, many remain excited to see Chandler's contribution to the iconic franchise when the series airs.

Meghan Markle & Prince Harry's $200M Deal With Netflix Has Reportedly Been Scrapped
Fresh controversy has emerged as reports suggest that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's £100 million (AUD$200 million) deal with Netflix has come to an end. According to The Sun, Netflix has allegedly decided not to renew the contract with the couple once it concludes in September, with both parties agreeing to keep the matter low-profile and avoid an official announcement. This development follows the lukewarm reception of their recent projects on the platform. Harry's docu-series "Polo" attracted only 500,000 views over six months, while Meghan's lifestyle show "With Love, Meghan" ranked 383rd with 5.3 million viewers. An insider revealed to The Sun that the streaming giant felt it had maximized its gains from the partnership, especially after the success of the initial documentary series. Despite no official statement, the source mentioned that Netflix was not interested in being overshadowed by Meghan's brand, As Ever, which now commands her primary focus. While the Sussexes and Netflix part ways, speculation suggests that Paramount+ might be considering a future collaboration. Neither Netflix nor the royal couple has commented on these rumors, but Meghan's show is expected to premiere its second season later this year.
